Azerbaijani karateka Madina Sadygova shared her emotions after winning gold at the III CIS Games, telling Baku TV that the first thought in her mind was the national anthem.
“Hearing our anthem under the flag was a moment of immense pride. I have always wished to feel this when watching our champions,” she said.
Sadygova dedicated her victory to her late friend, Nihad, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack. “I couldn’t be with Nihad on his last day. I fought in the tournament mostly for him. I dedicate this medal to Nihad,” she added.
Looking ahead, she expressed her ambition to win more medals: “This gold medal is a huge motivation. As the daughter of the fallen Captain Sadygov, I believe I will make history.”
