Florida Panthers goaltender Cooper Black made NHL history during his team's 4-0 defeat to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a regular-season game on October 22.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the 31-year-old American became the tallest goaltender ever to appear in an NHL game, standing at an impressive 206 cm (6 feet 9 inches).
Black made 17 saves on 20 shots in his NHL debut, but was unable to prevent the Panthers from suffering a shutout defeat.
With his remarkable height, Black surpassed the previous record of 201 cm (6 feet 7 inches), shared by Ivan Fedotov, Ben Bishop, Mikko Koskinen and Mads Søgaard.
The American netminder also joined former defensemen Zdeno Chara and Curtis Douglas, as well as New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe, among the tallest players in NHL history.
Although his debut ended in defeat, Black's appearance marked a historic milestone in the league, highlighting the extraordinary physical dimensions of some of hockey's most imposing athletes.
