Emin Kurdov, the goalkeeper of futsal national champion “Araz-Nakhchivan” and the Azerbaijan national team, evaluated the results of the first two rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
The captain of the Nakhchivan team spoke to Fanat-Az about the matches in Austria, Idman.biz reports.
Kurdov said that their opponents in the first game, Sparta Belfast, were familiar to them: “We faced this team in last year’s Champions League and won 7:1. This time, a similar scenario occurred, and we won 9:1. In the second game, we faced the Scottish champion PYF Saltires. We didn’t know this opponent and had no information about them. However, motivated by a successful start, we played confidently and secured a comfortable 7:2 victory. Overall, the first two rounds were very beneficial for us, as ‘Araz-Nakhchivan has been renewed and 90 percent of the team consists of new players. We were concerned that lack of game experience and understanding might affect us, but gradually we are reaching better form.”
According to the captain, they will face the most important match in the tournament tomorrow: “The home team, Ljuti Krajisnici, also won their first two games, and the local crowd will be on their side. However, our goal is to finish the group stage at the top with maximum results. We will do everything possible to win our final match as well.”
The Ljuti Krajisnici (Austria) vs. Araz-Nakhchivan match will take place on August 30 at 21:30 Baku time. The game will be officiated by a referee team consisting of Filipe Duarte (Portugal), Orest Dutsiak (Ukraine), and Aleksandar Vangelov (Bulgaria).
