The Azerbaijan national futsal team has undergone a change of head coach.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Yevgeny Kuksevich's contract, which expired on July 31, has not been renewed.
The parties were unable to reach an agreement on a new deal. As a result, the Russian specialist has ended his work both with the Azerbaijan national team and Araz-Nakhchivan.
Kuksevich took charge of the Azerbaijan national team in the summer of 2025. Under his leadership, the national side made its debut at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, defeating Libya 5:4 before losing 2:13 to Uzbekistan and 0:5 to Saudi Arabia. Azerbaijan failed to progress from the group stage, and Kuksevich was unable to achieve significant tournament success with the national team.
The Russian coach had taken charge of Araz-Nakhchivan in January 2025, joining the club midway through the season.
Under Kuksevich, Araz-Nakhchivan won the Azerbaijani championship in two consecutive seasons – 2024/25 and 2025/26.
The Nakhchivan club also reached the last 16 of the 2025/26 UEFA Futsal Champions League, where they were eliminated by Portuguese side Benfica. In May 2026, Araz-Nakhchivan reached the Azerbaijan Cup final, losing to Neftchi.
