The International Automobile Federation (FIA) faced a difficult situation at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
If the qualifying stage does not take place, the determination of the starting line of the race may lead to disputes, Idman.biz reports.
Yesterday, due to heavy rain, the qualifying race did not take place at Interlagos autodrome. Formula 1 regulations do not include any article on determining the starting order if classification is not held. This factor left the organizers in a difficult position. The stewards will make the final decision from the FIA. Considering the fight in the championship, there is a high possibility that the decision to be made may cause a conflict. As the most optimal option, the results of yesterday's sprint race can be taken into account. In this case, Lando Norris (McLaren) will start from the 2nd place, and Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who faces a five-place penalty, will start from the 9th place.
If the results of the first practice are taken into account, then the situation of Red Bull will be worse. Norris was the fastest, while Verstappen finished 15th. This means that he will start the Brazilian Grand Prix from the last place.
The qualifying stage of the Brazilian Grand Prix, which was supposed to be held yesterday, should start at 14:30. The main competition is scheduled for 19:30.
