Renato Augusto announces retirement from professional football

Former Bayer Leverkusen and Brazil midfielder Renato Augusto has announced his retirement from professional football.

According to Idman.biz, the 37-year-old player shared the news on his social media account.

The experienced player’s last club was Fluminense, where he played since 2021. He also previously played for Corinthians, Chinese club Beijing Guoan, and Flamengo.

Augusto earned 33 caps and scored 6 goals for the Brazilian national team. The player, a winner of the Brazilian Championship and the "Golden Ball" in 2006 and 2015, also celebrated a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
