Charles Boli: "We believe Araz-Nakhchivan will make a comeback"

“As expected, it was a tough game against a tough opponent.”

According to Idman.biz, citing Teleqraf, that’s what Araz-Nakhchivan midfielder Charles Boli said at the post-match press conference after their 0–4 home defeat to Cyprus' Omonia in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round.

The 26-year-old midfielder admitted the opponent performed better: “This is football – sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. We learn from it. This is our first experience in the Conference League, so we’re gaining experience for the next match.”

He expressed belief in a comeback in the return leg in Scotland: “We’ll see what happens in Cyprus, but I believe we’ll fight hard. I hope the team performs better. We believe in a comeback. It won’t be easy, but we have to believe. We will prepare well for the match and then see what happens.”

Boli also spoke about the injury he picked up in the first half: “I think it’s a minor injury. I’ll undergo a medical examination tomorrow and hopefully be ready for the next game. My substitution wasn’t the coach’s decision – I just felt I couldn’t give 100% on the field and made the decision myself. This injury situation frustrated me a lot.”

The second leg will take place on August 14.
