"Everything is in order within the team. We've already put the Conference League match behind us and are continuing our training with great motivation."
According to Idman.biz, this is what “Zira” captain Qismat Aliyev said in an interview with Futbolinfo.az.
The defender spoke about his team’s situation after their defeat to “Hajduk” in the Conference League: “We are preparing for the championship with full motivation. We fought well in both matches against ‘Hajduk’ and played attractive football. We could have advanced to the next round. We weren’t outplayed in terms of football against such an experienced team. These matches were a great experience for us and will give us a serious boost for future European competitions. There's little time left before the championship starts. All our focus is now on the upcoming matches. We have a few injured players in the squad. Once they are fully fit, we’ll be able to start the championship with our optimal lineup.”
The captain also expressed belief that the increase in the number of teams in the Premier League will boost competition: “The level of the Premier League has been rising year by year. This season, there will be 12 teams competing in the championship. Opponent clubs are also building strong squads and all of them are ambitious. There will be fierce competition for European qualification spots. We've participated in European competitions for the past two years, and we want to repeat that success again this season.”
