"During the transfer window, I was constantly in touch with my agent. Negotiations lasted for about a month, and in the end, I chose Varazdin."
According to Idman.biz, Rufat Abdullazada said this in an interview with Sportal.az.
Rufat, who had been linked with a move to Vanspor before heading to Croatia, also spoke about that situation: "It's true, we had talks with the Turkish club as well. But as I said earlier, in the end, we made a mutual decision, and my choice was Varazdin. I wasn’t entirely unfamiliar with my new team and the Croatian league beforehand. After receiving the offer, I started following them more closely. Now, I’m focused on the team, training sessions, and matches. Although I didn’t take part in the training camp with the team, I want to reach full fitness. Everyone welcomed me warmly, kindly, and sincerely. They're all helping me."
Among Rufat’s new teammates is Mario Marina, who previously played for "Sabah". Abdullazada noted that they’ve talked about Azerbaijani football: "Yes, I knew him, he played in our league. We talked about the times he played in Azerbaijan."
Abdullazada signed a three-year contract with Croatian club Varazdin this summer. He spent last season at "Sabail".
