Milana Rahimova: "I'm happy we defeated Pyunik"

Milana Rahimova, a player of the Azerbaijani national team who plays for North Macedonia's "Ljuboten" club, expressed her happiness after their big win (4:0) over the Armenian side "Pyunik" in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

As reported by Idman.biz, the 21-year-old defender shared her thoughts in an interview with Report news agency.

She stated that they had thoroughly prepared for the match: "We had analyzed the opponent. We knew what kind of team they were. We also had our own goals. We knew the match would be tough. Nevertheless, we only thought about winning. I'm happy we advanced to the next round and defeated an Armenian team. From the moment I learned I’d be playing against an Armenian team, I felt a huge sense of responsibility, motivation, and aggression. Above all, I knew I would be playing for my homeland. I had to do everything to beat the opponent. I showed this through my performance. I played very aggressively. They knew I was Azerbaijani. The aggression could be seen in my eyes."

Rahimova also spoke about their next-round ambitions: "We will play against Belgium’s 'Rosenborg'. They are a good team with quality players. We must follow our coaches' instructions and do our best. Our goal is to win again. We are working as a team to achieve this."

The Azerbaijani national team player started the match against "Pyunik" in the starting lineup and played the full 90 minutes.
