Ilgar Mansimov, head coach of Sabah’s U14 team, shared his impressions after winning the Qonaev City Cup international tournament held in Konayev, Kazakhstan.
Mansimov emphasized the broader impact of international tournaments on young players, Idman.biz reports via Report.
“Any international tournament has a strong impact on children. This one left a very positive impression on our players. More important than the result was the opportunity for our boys to gain international experience, test themselves in new environments, and meet peers from other countries. Competing against different playing styles plays a major role in their development. Of course, winning the championship is also joyful and meaningful.”
Mansimov expressed his full satisfaction with the team's performance: “I was completely satisfied with both their conduct off the pitch and their performance on it. The players showed true team spirit and professionalism. Sabah Football Academy consistently supports youth participation in international events. More of our age-group teams are expected to take part in similar tournaments soon.”
Sabah won the tournament final with an emphatic 9–0 victory over local side OSDYSH Konayev.
