Emrah Celikel, Executive Director and Board Member of Qarabag FK, has shared details of the recent meeting with Fenerbahce President Ali Koc during his visit to Baku.
Idman.biz, citing Report, reports that Celikel clarified that Koc’s visit to the Azerbaijani capital was not football-related:
“Ali Koc was in Baku on business matters. As a result, our meeting was brief. He spoke sincerely and expressed his deep affection for Azerbaijan. It was an engaging conversation. We also discussed the possibility of future cooperation between the two clubs. Necessary steps will be taken on this, and the public will be informed in due course.”
Celikel emphasized that the idea of a friendly match between Qarabag and Fenerbahce remains on the agenda:
“It’s a recurring topic of discussion. However, due to both clubs' packed schedules, organizing such a match isn’t easy. Still, there are some ideas we’re working on. During our meeting, we saw that Ali Koc is open to any form of collaboration that benefits both Qarabag and Fenerbahce. There’s no concrete project yet, but both sides will begin preparations and revisit the topic of cooperation later.”
The Qarabag official also shared a transfer update:
“Two days ago, we announced a new signing, and more arrivals are definitely expected. We know our fans are eagerly waiting. Several more transfers will be revealed soon.”
Notably, Asif Asgarov, another member of Qarabag’s Board of Directors, was also present at the meeting. At the end of the visit, Ali Koc was presented with a Qarabag jersey and a commemorative gift.
