Qarabag’s position in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round has been determined.
The Aghdam-based club will be seeded not only in the Second Qualifying Round, where they enter the competition, but also in the Third Qualifying Round—should they advance, Idman.biz reports.
This is due to Qarabag being among the top six highest-ranked domestic champions participating in the early rounds of the competition.
Until recently, it was unclear whether Qarabag would be seeded in the third round. The outcomes of the domestic leagues in Israel, Croatia, and Hungary were crucial in finalizing the pots.
Favorable results for Qarabag came from:
Ferencvárosi (Hungary) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) winning their respective leagues, both being higher-ranked.
Dinamo Zagreb falling short to Rijeka in Croatia, which worked to Qarabag’s advantage.
The Third Qualifying Round draw will take place on July 21, before the Second Qualifying Round is completed.
Therefore, Qarabag will enter the draw as part of a seeded pair, meaning any team they defeat in the second round will carry their seeded status into the third round.
