José Mourinho could be set to take charge of the Portugal national football team.
Idman.biz reports via HTSpor that an initial agreement has been reached between the parties.
The deal is expected to be finalized after the decisive UEFA Nations League matches scheduled for early June.
The 62-year-old manager is currently in charge of Fenerbahce, who sit second in the Turkish Super Lig, trailing Galatasaray by 8 points with just three matches remaining.
If appointed, this would mark Mourinho’s first stint as a national team coach.
Portugal's current head coach, Spaniard Roberto Martinez, has guided the team to 21 wins in 28 matches, but they suffered a quarter-final exit at EURO 2024, losing to France in a penalty shootout.
