"I have great respect for Vidadi Rzayev both as a person and as a footballer. I don’t believe that someone who has dedicated their life to football would lie."
Idman.biz reports that this statement was made by former national team member Mahir Shukurov in an interview with Apasport.az.
Shukurov responded to Vidadi Rzayev’s comments about money being embezzled from youth football in Ganja: "If money allocated for youth football is being embezzled, it means there is no interest in development. What Vidadi said is not only true for Kapaz. Several clubs are doing the same. Everything is clear for everyone to see. Around the world, everyone is focusing on youth football, but in our academies, we aren’t developing players. If they took it seriously, we could achieve something. The situation with youth football is deplorable. There are also major financial problems. If the money spent on the Premier League were allocated even half to youth football, we could build the future. But as it stands, the only club achieving results in European competitions is Qarabag."
The veteran footballer also discussed his thoughts on coaching: "Personally, I have never wanted to be a head coach. If I had, I would have worked in that field by now. To be a coach, you need to understand psychology and be able to work with players. I’m not saying I lack these skills, but look at how many PRO-level coaches are without clubs. If you don’t have resources, it’s not possible. Without good material, I wouldn’t want to work as a coach. Without a good squad, you’ll be fighting for lower spots in the Premier League. Eventually, you’ll clash with the club’s management and leave. Then you’ll move to another club, and this cycle will continue. But that’s wrong. A specialist should sign a five-year contract. Win or lose, you should continue your work. That trust has only been given to Gurban Gurbanov. Right now, Zira has also entrusted Rashad Sadygov with this opportunity. Which other club in our league does this?"
Vidadi Rzayev previously stated to the media that there were unpleasant circumstances in Ganja football. He emphasized that due to lack of facilities, they were unable to attend tournaments.
