Real Madrid youth academy product Marc Cucalón has retired from football at the age of 19.
According to Idman.biz, Cucalón announced his decision on social media, explaining that a serious injury led him to this difficult choice. He was initially injured during a UEFA Youth League match in September 2022.
As reported by Relevo, Cucalón was diagnosed with a torn ACL, and during surgery, a bacterial infection occurred, causing a rare joint infection. Due to complications from this infection, he was unable to fully recover.
Cucalón played four games for Real Madrid in the Youth League and has been a free agent since July 2024.
