Paris Saint-Germain and Portugal defender Nuno Mendes has spoken about the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the national team.
İdman.Biz reports that the 41-year-old forward previously left Portugal's training camp early following disagreements with head coach Jorge Jesus.
"Of course, we are happy to welcome any player. We are pleased with the results, and I am happy. If Cris comes back, we will welcome him with open arms, just like any other player. I am focused on my job: I want to play football and help the national team. I am very happy to be playing in every match, and I am happy with our victories.
"Of course, we are a united team. Cris, like any other player who is not with us at the moment, can always return to the national team. We will be happy to welcome him," Mendes was quoted as saying by A Bola.
Ronaldo's future with Portugal has been the subject of discussion following his early departure from the national team camp. Head coach Jorge Jesus has since stated that the veteran forward can return whenever he wants.
