Azerbaijan national team striker Renat Dadashov has commented on the 1-0 victory over Lithuania in the third round of the UEFA Nations League.
İdman.Biz reports that the forward praised the team's performance and stressed the importance of the result in the battle for first place in the group.
"The team fought very well. We deserved the victory. We are first in the group, which is already a good thing," Dadashov said.
The Azerbaijan forward also spoke about the team's finishing problems, head coach Ayhan Abbasov's work and their objectives for the remainder of the campaign.
"Now we will focus on our clubs, and then we will prepare for our final group match against Liechtenstein. We have a good chance of finishing the campaign in first place. We will work towards that.
"As you can all see, Ayhan Abbasov is doing an excellent job. Yes, we are not scoring many goals. Against Lithuania, I had two chances myself but could not score, so we have to work on that.
"But the most important thing is that we won. Nobody believed in us, but we believed in ourselves and won," Dadashov told Sportal.az.
Azerbaijan's victory over Lithuania strengthened their position at the top of the group ahead of the final match against Liechtenstein.
