Benfica head coach José Mourinho commented on the 2:0 victory over “Ajax” in the UEFA Champions League Group Stage Round 5, reports Idman.Biz.
“If you score a goal right at the start of the match, it has a positive effect on you. It’s not just about the lead on the scoreboard, but also the emotional advantage. From a tournament perspective, this win gives us new life. Even a draw would have made things much harder for us. I think that if we end up with nine points, we will have good chances. We need to secure two more wins.
Towards the end of the match, it felt like even if ‘Ajax’ had 150 players on the field, they still wouldn’t have scored. The players worked brilliantly, and it was very enjoyable to celebrate such a victory after the match,” Mourinho said, according to UEFA’s official website.
After five rounds, Benfica sits in 29th place in the overall Champions League Group Stage standings.
