Azerbaijani chess player Read Samadov has won a bronze medal at the World U20 Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, the country is represented at the tournament by Read Samadov and Shiroglan Talibov.
Samadov secured third place in the rapid competition after collecting seven points from nine rounds, finishing just half a point behind the tournament leader.
His compatriot Talibov also delivered a solid performance, earning 6.5 points to finish eighth in the standings.
A total of 91 chess players are competing in the tournament, which brings together young talents from around the world.
The competition will continue with the blitz championship, scheduled for November 5 and 6, giving both Azerbaijani representatives another opportunity to compete for medals.
