Two days after leaving a game with a right knee injury, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has been cleared to play as Slovenia prepares for EuroBasket.
Idman.biz, citing Reuters, reports that the 26-year-old suffered the scare during a game against Latvia when a teammate was pushed into his lower legs under the basket. Doncic initially appeared in severe pain, walking off the court with a noticeable limp, but later returned to the bench. Slovenia is set to face Great Britain in an exhibition match on Tuesday.
Doncic was acquired by the Lakers in a February trade with the Dallas Mavericks and recently signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension. Since joining Los Angeles, he has averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 28 games, all starts. Over seven seasons with Dallas and the Lakers, Doncic has posted career averages of 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists in 450 games. His return is a boost for both the national team and the Lakers ahead of the upcoming season.
