Azerbaijan to host 3x3 Basketball World Cup Qualifiers – Route to Mongolia begins in Baku

Another prestigious sports event will kick off tomorrow in Baku.

Azerbaijan will, for the first time, host the FIBA 3x3 Basketball World Cup Qualifiers. The tournament serves as a gateway to the final stage of the World Cup, to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Idman.biz reports.

6 men's and 6 women's national teams will battle for 3 spots each in the main tournament. The teams have already been divided into groups of three. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals on May 24.

The winners of the semifinals (May 25) will automatically qualify for the World Cup. The losing teams will then fight for the third and final ticket to Mongolia in a decisive playoff.

Men's Team

Competing in Group B with Canada and Great Britain.

In Group B with Latvia and Egypt.

Following the qualifiers, Azerbaijan’s women’s team will also compete in the Women’s Series Baku stage from May 26–27.

This major event not only offers a path to the global stage but also strengthens Baku’s position as a growing hub for international basketball.
