Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov has shared a post on social media marking the 75th anniversary of the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Gayibov reflected on the historic sporting moments that have taken place at the stadium over the years.
"75 years, so many matches, so many victories, so many unforgettable moments... Generations change, but memories remain," Gayibov wrote.
The minister also accompanied his post with a video about the construction and opening of the stadium.
According to the video, thousands of young people took part in the construction of the arena.
On the day of the stadium's opening, Baku's Neftchi football club faced Spartak Vilnius. The Azerbaijani side celebrated the occasion with a convincing 4-0 victory.
The Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium officially opened on September 16, 1951, and celebrates its 75th anniversary today.
The arena, one of Azerbaijan's most recognisable sporting venues, has hosted numerous major domestic and international events throughout its history.
