Sabah earn Azerbaijan UEFA coefficient points after thrashing Aarhus

Sabah’s emphatic victory over Aarhus in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League has earned Azerbaijan additional points in the UEFA coefficient rankings.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the Baku-based side defeated the Danish club 4-0, adding 0.250 points to Azerbaijan’s coefficient.

Under UEFA rules, a win in the qualifying rounds is worth one point. As this figure is divided among the four Azerbaijani clubs competing in European competitions, the country’s coefficient increased by 0.250 points.

Sabah have therefore continued to contribute to Azerbaijan’s tally in this season’s European campaign. The Baku side’s victories in previous rounds also added to the national total. In particular, their 2-0 win over TNS earned Azerbaijan another 0.250 points.

It should be noted that the UEFA national coefficient is calculated based on the results of clubs from each country in European competitions. The ranking plays an important role in determining the allocation of places in European tournaments in subsequent seasons, as well as the qualifying rounds from which teams begin their campaigns.

Sabah’s 4-0 victory over Aarhus therefore not only secured the Baku side’s place in the next round of the Champions League but also provided a valuable boost to Azerbaijan’s position in the UEFA rankings.
