Sascha Yunisoglu: "Rahil Mammadov's progress has reached a standstill, we need fresh inspiration and a compelling championship" - INTERVIEW

Interview of Sasha Yunisoglu, a former football player of the Azerbaijan national team, to Idman.biz

- In 2007-2009, you defended the honor of Groclin in Poland. Qarabag defender Rahil Mammadov is close to moving to the LKS club of this country. How would you rate the offer?

- Rahil will benefit from it, in my opinion. The Polish championship is not insignificant. It is with great confidence that I declare the Ekstraklasa to be superior to the Azerbaijan Premier League. Scouts from top European teams, mostly from Germany, also regularly attend the games. This change represents a significant milestone in Rahil's growth.

- Will the defender who performs in the team be able to show himself in LKS?

- It depends on the player to perform well in any club. Rahil has great potential to show his good side. He is one of the best stoppers of Azerbaijan. Physically and athletically, he is perfectly suited to Polish football. And Rahil is no longer a child, but a player of the national team. He is an experienced football player.

- As a football player who played in Poland for a year and half, what advice would you give him?

- My first advice is to stay professional. The mentality in Europe is completely different and it is very difficult for an Azerbaijani football player to adapt there. And secondly, Rahil should know from now on that he is no longer in his native Azerbaijan, no one knows him there and no one knows what he is capable of. When you feel tired somewhere in Baku, you can do a little exercise because everyone knows you. But you have to work there not only 100, but even 150 percent to earn their trust.

- Isn't going from the leader Qarabag to the outsider LSK a step backwards?

- I don't think so at all. I wish Bahlul Mustafazada to go to Europe along with Rahil. The development of these children has stopped here. We need a new test, a new breath, new emotions, a stronger championship. These aspects will help them to become even better footballers. Besides, it will be good for the national team. Not every football player is lucky enough to live the life of a legionnaire. This is luck.

- How much will Rahil's departure affect Qarabag, which will play against Braga in the playoffs of the European Cup?

- Qarabag has no problems with the staff. Probably, the coaches have measured a thousand times and then made this decision. Therefore, I do not believe that it will have any negative effect. Qarabag represents all of Azerbaijan. We support them and want them to succeed. In my opinion, if Qarabag has agreed to the transition, there will be no problems. They know what they are doing.
