Azerbaijani wrestlers remain in contention for bronze medals

The U-20 World Wrestling Championship continues in Samokov, Bulgaria.

Today four more Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers took to the mat, Idman.biz reports.

At best, they still have a chance to compete for bronze medals, but for that, their opponents must reach the final.

Tural Ahmadov defeated Indian Gaurav Gaurav on the first-point principle (1:1) but lost to Kazakhstan’s Damir Ibrashov (1:1) in the quarterfinals.

Davud Mammadov lost to Armenian Samvel Terteryan (1:1) on the first-point principle in the qualification round.

87 kg
Orkhan Hajiyev defeated Moldovan Cristian Rusu decisively (10:0) but lost to Russian Abdurakhman Abdulkadyrov (UWW) by fall in the round of 16.

130 kg
Mazaim Mardanov eliminated Polish Mateusz Bienczak and Armenian Davit Baghramyan (8:0) before time by fall but lost to Turkish Cemal Bakir 3:4 in the quarterfinals.

Seymur Gasimov (72 kg) lost to Kazakhstan’s Yussuf Ashrapov by fall in the consolation match.
