"I expected this result from Eldaniz," stated Hasan Aliyev, the coach of Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestling team.
Speaking to Idman.biz, Aliyev shared his thoughts on the team’s success at the World Championship for non-Olympic weights, held in Tirana, Albania, where Azerbaijan claimed the top team spot.
Per his statement, Eldaniz Azizli's (55 kg) championship win was greatly influenced by his training approach and level of training: "I had the most faith in him. Although Nihat Mammadli (63 kg) made several mistakes, he performed better during the competition than in training and proved himself with a victory. Ulvu Ganizade (72 kg) has been wrestling for years, so his result was also expected. However, he often falls ill close to competition dates. This time, he must have been more determined, which led him to the world title."
The young coach highlighted the significance of Azerbaijan winning gold in three out of four weight classes: "This is a remarkable result."
With three gold medals and a total of 85 points, the Azerbaijani team became world champions.
