Changes have been made to the coaching staff of the Azerbaijan national Greco-Roman wrestling team.
According to Idman.Biz, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, Muhammad Bena has been appointed as the new head coach of the national team. Nuraddin Rajabov has taken over the position of senior coach. The coaching staff has also been joined by Rovshan Bayramov, Sabah Shariati, Bahruz Khazretipur and Rasul Jazini Dorche.
It should be recalled that under Bena’s leadership, the Iran national Greco-Roman wrestling team won three gold medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, setting a national record. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the team claimed one gold and one bronze medal. In 2011, Bena was named the world’s best coach by FILA, now known as UWW, and was awarded Iran’s “Jasarat” Order.
It is also worth noting that the updated coaching staff does not include Hasan Aliyev, a former Azerbaijan national team coach and world and European champion, which has drawn attention from the sports community.
