Azerbaijani athletes achieved success at the International University Sports Festival held in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
İdman.biz informs that our taekwondo player Seyyad Dadashov, who performed in the 54 kg weight class, defeated his opponent, the representative of Russia, Mikail Tomilov, in the final match with a score of 2:0. As a result, our athlete was awarded a gold medal.
Our other finalist Vagif Hajiyev (68 kg) won a silver medal after losing (2:0) in a fight with Igor Iokovlev.
Eltaj Gafarov (80 kg) defeated his Iranian opponent Amirsina Bakhtiari at the last moment with a score of 2:0 and ended the festival with a silver medal.
It should be noted that the International University Sports Festival, which will last until August 31, is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the city of Yekaterinburg.
Students of different universities from 36 countries try their hand at 14 sports. Azerbaijan is represented at the festival by 69 athletes from 10 educational institutions, 54 of whom are men and 15 are women. Our representatives compete in 8 sports – badminton, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, taekwondo, futsal, swimming, sambo.
