Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Azerbaijan’s swimming national team coach Teymur Quliyev in an interview with Report.
Commenting on Oqtay Huseynov’s gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley, Quliyev said: “I thank everyone who supported us. Special thanks to our youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov, and everyone who cheered our swimmers to victory. We prepared very seriously for this competition. Azerbaijani swimmers had never won a gold medal at the CIS Games before. It is truly gratifying that our anthem was played on home soil,” the coach said.
