Athletes who will represent Azerbaijan at the 7th European Youth Paralympic Games, set to be held in Istanbul, Turkiye, have been confirmed.
The Azerbaijan National Paralympic Team will make its debut at the European Youth Paralympic Games, Idman.biz reports.
Our Paralympians will compete in 7 out of the 9 sports featured at the Games, para taekwondo, para judo, para athletics, para swimming, para archery, para table tennis, and boccia, with a total of 17 athletes (11 men and 6 women) representing the country.
At the event, which will bring together nearly 700 athletes from 33 countries, Azerbaijan will be represented in the following disciplines:
- Para taekwondo (K44 category): Sabir Zeynalov (58 kg), Aykhan Nuriyev (58 kg), Amin Aliyev (63 kg), Amin Shikhaliyev (63 kg), Imran Baghirov (70 kg), Orkhan Jafarov (80 kg), and Samaya Hasanova (47 kg).
- Para judo (J2 category): Omar Gurbanov (62 kg), Huseyn Ismayilzada (70 kg), and Elnara Nizamli (60 kg).
- Boccia: Fidan Safguliyeva (BC2 category) and Gunel Rzazade (BC4 category).
- Para swimming: Ali Valiyev and Murad Mammadov.
- Para athletics (long jump): Aisha Arabova.
- Para table tennis: Leman Abdulhamidova.
- Para archery: Ismayil Allahverdiyev.
The competitions will take place from July 23–27. Events in para athletics will be held at the Enka Sports Center, while all other disciplines will be hosted at the Cebeci Sports Complex.
