President of the Azerbaijan MMA and Grappling Federation, Azad Asgarov, has assessed the chances of Azerbaijani fighters set to compete at tonight’s UFC Fight Night at Baku Crystal Hall.
Idman.biz reports via Report that Asgarov expressed strong belief in Rafael Fiziev, who will face Ignacio Bahamondes of Chile:
“I fully believe Rafael Fiziev will win. If he doesn’t, he probably won’t forgive himself. I have no doubts about his strength.”
He also praised Nazim Sadykhov’s potential: “In my opinion, he has huge potential. I’ve fought a lot myself, and I can see that Nazim is a promising fighter. He will win matches that will surprise many people. His height gives him an advantage over his opponents. I expect a good result from him against Brazil’s Nikolas Motta, especially since his opponents tend to tire quickly when fighting him.”
Regarding Tofiq Musayev, Asgarov said: “He’s an experienced fighter, known for his speed and active striking. He has beaten many opponents thanks to his quickness. I believe it will be the same this time, although his Kyrgyz opponent Mıktıbek Orolbai is unpredictable and fights differently each time he steps into the octagon.”
Asgarov emphasized the importance of hosting such events in Azerbaijan: “Our state always supports sports. President Ilham Aliyev pays great attention to it. We have successfully hosted major events like the European Games and the Islamic Solidarity Games. UFC is one of the biggest organizations in the world and draws global attention. This event will bring in tourists and raise the profile of our country and capital. Azerbaijan has always stood out with its excellent organizational standards.”
The UFC Fight Night event at Baku Crystal Hall will start with preliminary fights at 20:00, followed by the main card at 23:00. The main event will feature a bout between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr., both from the USA.
