West Ham United are set to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head coach following the sacking of Graham Potter.
Idman.biz reports that the Premier League club dismissed Potter after only eight months in charge, with the team 19th in the table and having collected just three points from their first five league matches this season.
Nuno, 51, has held positive talks with the West Ham board and is expected to be in place ahead of Monday's match against Everton. The Portuguese manager was previously in charge at Nottingham Forest, guiding them to seventh last season—their highest finish since 1994-95—before being sacked only three games into the 2025/26 campaign.
West Ham stated that results and performances had not met expectations and a change was necessary to improve the club’s league position. Potter, who won six of 25 matches after his January appointment, had believed he retained board support before his dismissal. Former Wales captain Ashley Williams praised Nuno’s potential impact, highlighting his ability to galvanise the team and instill organisation and bravery on the pitch.
The club thanked Potter and his staff for their efforts and confirmed that the appointment process is underway, with no further comment at this time.
