The Azerbaijan national football team will play its first home match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on September 9 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku against Ukraine.
According to information obtained by Idman.biz, the president of the Ukrainian Football Association and 2004 Ballon d’Or winner Andriy Shevchenko is also expected to attend the match.
It is reported that AFFA has prepared an extensive program for the famous football figure’s visit to Baku.
Shevchenko has been heading the Ukrainian Football Association since January 25, 2024. He spent most of his playing career at AC Milan and, as a coach, has managed the Ukraine national team and Genoa.
