Bruno Franco, Brazilian player of "Araz-Nakhchivan," interviewed by Teleqraf
You made a confident impression in the first half of the return match against "Aris." How did you prepare psychologically and tactically for the game?
It was a game every player dreams of playing. I was looking forward to the return match all week. When I saw the "Kleantis Vikelidis" stadium in Thessaloniki full, I was sure it would be a great match.
How did playing with one less player in the second half affect your game plan, especially since you were leading 2-0 at halftime?
I’m a player who likes to help the team in attack and be creative. At that moment, I had to focus almost solely on defense. I tried to maintain the result and ended up running twice as much.
After Igor Ribeiro received a red card in the 52nd minute, was there any loss of spirit or fear of losing the victory in your team?
We talked as a team and realized we had to run twice as much for two players. Honestly, playing with 10 men on the field was very difficult. I did everything I could to prevent the opponent from scoring.
How difficult was it for you to eliminate a team like "Aris," which has some experience in European competitions and a budget about five times larger than "Araz-Nakhchivan"?
Playing against such a strong and high-quality team and advancing was a very good experience for us players. It also increased confidence and satisfaction with our head coach Elmar Bakhshiyev’s work. In short, we made history for "Araz-Nakhchivan."
How was this success received at the club management level? Was there any reward?
As expected, everyone was very happy and proud of the result. There will be a reward for advancing to the next round.
What can you say about what happened in the stadium after the match?
The most dangerous moment for me was in the last minutes when the opponent pressed hard for the ball. That was very risky for us. Provocations are normal in football and will never end. We must not listen to insults, protect ourselves, and focus 100% on the next game.
Charles Boli and Felipe Santos scored goals in this game. As a defender, did you have any desire or chance to score?
Santos and Boli are extremely talented players who make a difference on the field. They were key figures in advancing. We ran a lot in defense so that they could help the team score goals.
Next, you will face the Cypriot club "Omonia." What are your initial thoughts about this opponent?
"Omonia" is a very strong team. I believe it will be even tougher against them. But we will prepare well and show another good game.
How important is playing the first leg at home for "Araz-Nakhchivan"?
The difference is not very big, but it’s very important for the fans. If they support us, we will be stronger and fight for them until the end. Thanks to them, we can achieve success and go to the return match in a favorable position.
What are your personal goals as a footballer?
I want to make history with this jersey that brings me happiness and play in the Conference League, which has turned my dream into reality. I would sacrifice myself for "Araz-Nakhchivan."
