Samy Mmaee, who joined Qarabag on loan from Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, gave an interview to Teleqraf:
– You made your debut for Qarabag. What are your thoughts?
– I think we were the team that controlled the match. We had more possession. Of course, we could have played better. After the first goal, it became easier for us: we kept the ball more. The goal difference could have been bigger. Now we’ll start preparing for the next round.
– You will face Shkendija of North Macedonia in the next stage. Can we say you will beat this opponent more comfortably?
– We respect every opponent. There are no easy teams.
– How is your adaptation process at Qarabag going?
– The atmosphere in the team is very good. Everyone welcomed me warmly. Everyone tries to support new players. That’s why the adaptation process was quick for me.
– Last year, you played against Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League play-off stage. As a result, the "Qarabag" ended their UCL campaign with 0:2 and 0:3 defeats. Were you aware of the current state of the team beforehand, or did you clarify anything with a player before joining?
– I know Kady Borges and Abdellah Zoubir very well. When I spoke with Zoubir, he told me that Qarabag is a very good team. It’s an ambitious and big club. That’s why he plays here and succeeds. I think coming here was the right decision. It’s a big club, and I’m happy to be here.
– What differences do you see between last year’s Qarabag and the current team?
– It’s hard to say. But last year I was at Dinamo Zagreb. Today, I represent Qarabag. Even last year, when playing against Qarabag, I saw that they were a quality team with quality players. That’s still the case today.
