Jurgen Klopp has praised Liverpool's new signing Florian Wirtz, calling him an “exceptional talent,” but believes the German midfielder’s success will depend on how he fits into Arne Slot’s plans.
Idman.biz, citing Daily Mail, reports that Wirtz joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in June for £100m, potentially rising to £116m with add-ons, but was left out of their first pre-season match against Preston due to fitness management.
Klopp questioned where exactly Wirtz will be deployed, with options ranging from attacking midfielder, his most effective position at Leverkusen, to false nine or even on the left wing, especially amid uncertainty over Luis Diaz's future. Wirtz could also be used deeper as a No. 8, pairing with Szoboszlai in a midfield trio.
