“First of all, I congratulate my team on the victory. We played the first match with Moldova two days ago. It is difficult to play again after a one-day break".
Agil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team consisting of under-16 footballers, told the AFFA Press Service after the second friendly match (2:1) against the Moldovan team of the corresponding age group, Idman.biz reports.
Congratulating his players on the victory, the specialist said that although it was a friendly match, it was a gratifying event to win. The head coach also spoke about the players' preparations: "The recovery of a footballer is very important. Depending on the organism, there are footballers who recover in 48 hours, and in 72 hours. Taking this into account, we made some changes to the squad. We played dominant football on the field, created many goal episodes".
Agil Nabiyev also expressed his concern: "We could not evaluate the one hundred percent episodes we achieved in both matches and conceded goals from simple situations. We need to work hard on these. We are also inviting several players from this team to the U-17 national team. If we can increase the number of training camps and international matches, we will achieve a lot with these players. I believe that we will achieve good results in the CIS Games to be organized in our country and in the qualifying round matches with our U-17 national team."
The head coach said that the second match was better than the first match, in which the team won 3:2: "When we analyzed the first match, we eliminated the obvious gaps. In this match, we had more possession of the ball, created enough scoring opportunities. As a result of a well-organized match, we won. I believe that successful results will continue."
Nabiyev stressed that he believes that Azerbaijan U-16 national team will achieve successful results at the III CIS Games to be held in Azerbaijan in September-October: "After we know our opponents, we will collect detailed information about them and analyze them. Our team has the potential to achieve successful results at the CIS Games. We just need to trust the children. As I have said every time, there are enough promising football players in Azerbaijan. We need to guide the children correctly and believe in them."
