"Three and a half years ago, I put on this jersey for the first time. Playing 100 matches for Neftchi is a great honor."
These heartfelt words belong to Azer Salahli, former defender of Neftci, Idman.biz reports.
Following the expiration of his contract, the player has officially parted ways with the Baku-based club.
In a farewell message shared on social media, Salahli reflected on his time at the club, noting both successes and setbacks:
“Sometimes we achieved results, sometimes things didn’t go as we hoped. But I never stopped working. Unfortunately, your intentions aren’t always visible in the eyes of the fans. Now our paths diverge. Wearing this jersey was an honor for me. I thank everyone – my teammates, coaches, club management, and especially the fans who always criticized me.”
Neftchi recently parted ways with seven players as part of its off-season changes.
