Former Ajax player to coach

Former Ajax and Netherlands international John Heytinga has been appointed head coach of the Amsterdam club.

41-year-old specialist has signed a contract until June 30, 2027, Idman.biz reports.

Heytinga served as Ajax head coach from January to June 2023, and then worked in Arne Slot's coaching staff at Liverpool.

Last season, Amsterdam club lost first place at the end of the championship and finished second in Eredivisie, so Francesco Farioli left the post of head coach.
