“There will be major changes in the team.”
That’s what Neftchi’s head coach, Samir Abasov, told Idman.biz.
The coach spoke about the ongoing work within the team, stating that significant changes will be made to the Black and Whites’ squad ahead of the new season:
“We’ve already laid out our plans and started working. We are trying to carry out everything that needs to be done at this stage at the highest level. We’re scouting players and working on transfers. The team needs to be rebuilt—and it will be. We want to compete in European competitions next year. And we’ll do whatever it takes to get there.”
Abasov also expressed his disappointment that Neftchi failed to qualify for European competitions this season:
“Of course, we’re upset about that. Missing out on Europe two years in a row has hurt Neftchi’s reputation. But we will do everything we can to fix that.”
Neftchi currently sits in 6th place on the league table with 43 points after 35 rounds.
