The 61-year-old specialist, who recently coached the Besiktas club, did not hide that he was waiting for an offer from the Azerbaijani national team. He even emphasized that he would give a positive answer to this: "I expect that they will call me in 1-2 days. If this happens, I will be willing to coach the Azerbaijan national team."
It should be noted that Çalımbay never worked in the national team in his career. He coached in his homeland "Göztepe", "Denizlispor", "Ankaragücü", "Çaykur Rizespor", "Besiktas", "Ankaraspor", "Eskişehirspor", "Sivasspor", "Mersin Idmanyurdu", "Kasımpaşa", "Antalyaspor", "Trabzonspor" and "Konyaspor" in his homeland.
