Jimmy Cabot criticizes Globe Soccer Awards over Pogba honor

Former France international Jimmy Cabot has strongly criticized the decision of the Globe Soccer Awards to present Paul Pogba with the "Comeback of the Year" award, calling the choice a sign of disrespect toward genuine football stories of resilience and recovery.

As reported by Idman.Biz, Cabot stressed that there are players who have gone through far more serious physical and psychological challenges but were left without recognition.

"Mathieu Udol ("Lens") came back four times after cruciate ligament ruptures. Nabil Bentaleb ("Lille") returned to the pitch just eight months after cardiac arrest and scored the winning goal in his very first match. And yet the award was given to a player who simply served a doping suspension," Cabot said.

According to the former footballer, the concept of a comeback should be linked to real medical, physical and mental battles, not the formal completion of sanctions. "Such a decision contradicts the very meaning of this award," he added.

It is also noted that thousands of fans on social media supported Cabot’s stance and called on the organizers to review the criteria for awarding the honor.
