The final La Liga matches of 2025 will take place in Spain.
According to İdman.biz, Matchday 17 of the Spanish championship will be spread over four days, with the main events of the weekend taking place at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Estadio de la Ceramica.
Real Madrid vs Sevilla (December 20)
In Madrid, Xabi Alonso’s side play their final league match of 2025 while sitting second in the table with 39 points, four behind leaders Barcelona. Sevilla are ninth with 20 points and are aiming to strengthen their position in the top half of the standings.
The atmosphere around the hosts remains tense. Alonso has spoken openly about the need to end the year on a positive note, while particular attention is being paid to Vinicius’ prolonged goal drought, with the Brazilian influencing matches more through assists and key moments than goals in recent games.
Real Madrid’s squad situation is gradually improving after a difficult spell. Camavinga, Alaba and Mendy have returned to full training, and a final decision on their readiness will be made after further assessment. At the same time, the Madrid side still have absences due to suspensions and injuries, including in defense.
Villarreal vs Barcelona (December 21)
The second focal point of the round is Villarreal, where the hosts will welcome league leaders Barcelona. The Catalans have 43 points, while Villarreal sit third with 35.
Barcelona continue to face squad issues. Dani Olmo is still recovering from injury, there is uncertainty surrounding Gavi’s condition, and defender Ronald Araujo has been granted leave for personal reasons.
For Villarreal, the key focus of the week is being ready to host the match of the year at home against the league leaders. The club views this fixture as the main event closing out 2025, and the return of several important attacking and midfield players to training has boosted optimism among the hosts.
