Antonio Conte has called Qarabag the surprise team of the Champions League. “Napoli are third in Serie A, but I believe today world football is going through a development phase built on surprise results. We see this in both national and club-level matches,” said former Azerbaijani international Adil Shukurov while discussing today’s UEFA Champions League Group Stage match between Napoli and Qarabag in Italy.
Shukurov expressed confidence in Qarabag’s performance against the Italian side: “I believe they will perform at a high level. The Azerbaijani champions have shown in four rounds of the new Champions League format, collecting seven points, that they can create surprises. We have seen our team play resiliently, confidently, and uniquely in matches against giants like Benfica and Chelsea.”
The expert also noted the match’s timing is symbolic: “It happens to fall on the day the world lost Diego Maradona, Napoli’s Argentine legend. The stadium bears his name.”
The game will take place today at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, kicking off at 23:59 Baku time.
