“I congratulate the entire Azerbaijani nation.”
According to Idman.Biz, citing sport24.az, these words were said by “Qarabag” player Elvin Jafarguliyev.
The full-back shared his thoughts on the 2–2 draw against England’s “Chelsea” in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage:
“This is a result equal to victory. Our team has developed and grown a lot. The club has now reached a level where we can talk about winning against Chelsea. I think we played very well as a team. We knew the opponent would play with high pressing, and they caused us difficulties, but we managed to overcome everything. Thank God, today we walked off the pitch with our heads held high. We fought hard. I also thank our fans for not leaving us alone here today.”
Jafarguliyev also commented on his own performance and future career:
“I believe in myself — I always do. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is; the main thing is to go out and show my game. I think I managed to do that today. I’ve already played several times against players of this level. There have been no talks with my agent about new offers yet. There may be interest from European clubs, but interest doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll transfer somewhere. For that to happen, there must be negotiations with my agent and, of course, my consent. There is interest, but how real it is — I can’t say yet. At some point, I’ll sit down with my agent to discuss it.”
