Paris-2024: 48th in the world with 48 athletes - AZERBAIJAN

After the announcement of the Azerbaijan national judo team that will participate in Paris-2024, the number of our Olympians who will go to the French capital has increased to 48.

Idman.biz reports, Azerbaijan is 48th in the world in the number of athletes it will send to the Olympics.

Currently, 186 teams have qualified for Paris-2024. Two of them – Individual Neutral Athletes (INA) and GOC (Refugee Olympic Team) are mixed teams, while others represent 184 different countries.

Only 47 of these teams are ahead of Azerbaijan in the number of athletes. Azerbaijan, which ranks 48th with 48 representatives, will participate in Paris in 17 sports.

12 of our athletes will compete in wrestling (6 freestyle, Greco-Roman – 5, female – 1), 9 in judo, 7 in gymnastics (artistic – 6, trampoline – 1), 5 in boxing, 4 in basketball, 2 in badminton and swimming. One of our representatives will participate in athletics, fencing, taekwondo, shooting, triathlon, rowing and archery.

The United States is the leader in the number of licenses obtained so far. North Americans won the right to send 590 athletes. Host France is second. Australia closes the "three" in the list.
