On December 7-11, the "Vugar Hashimov Memorial-2023" supertournament dedicated to the memory of the outstanding chess player, European Champion Vugar Hashimov will be held.
Idman.biz reports that the tournament will be held with the participation of 10 chess players and will be organized on rapid and blitz.
Gabala will host the 9th Vugar Hashimov Memorial for the first time. The Supertournament will be jointly organized by the Vugar Hashimov Chess Foundation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
It should be noted that the Vugar Hashimov memorial was held for the first time in 2014 in Shamkir. World Champion Magnus Carlsen four (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019), Azerbaijani chess player Shahriyar Mammadyarov two (2016, 2017), US representative Fabiano Caruana (2021) , and Uzbek Nodirbek Abdusattorov (year 2022) won the tournament once.
