The light-hearted stunt is part of a long-standing NBA tradition in which veteran players occasionally play practical jokes on newcomers as they adjust to life in the league.
Similar incidents have occurred in the past. In April 2013, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry joined several teammates in filling rookie Kent Bazemore's car with popcorn.
At the time, Curry was in his fourth NBA season and had already established himself as one of the Warriors' key players.
More than a decade later, the tradition appears to be alive and well in Detroit, with Okorie becoming the latest rookie to receive an unforgettable welcome from his teammates.
