Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has expressed concerns that his former girlfriend, Alexandria Desroches, could use child support payments to fund online gambling, according to TMZ.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the NBA guard raised the issue in court, alleging that Desroches had admitted to gambling online dozens of times per month throughout 2025 while simultaneously claiming that the financial support she received from him was insufficient.
Edwards also accused his former partner of failing to disclose certain sources of income, including tips earned from a second job, and exaggerating expenses related to their child.
Under a previous court order, the basketball star was required to pay $14,000 per month in child support. However, concerned about how the money might be spent, Edwards has now requested that the payments be placed in a trust fund overseen by a financial administrator.
Desroches rejected the request, arguing that Edwards had not sought visitation rights, had never met their child in person and was unaware of whether he had sent any gifts.
She acknowledged having participated in online gambling but insisted that her bets were typically around $10 and were placed simply out of boredom. Desroches also claimed that she had stopped using the gambling account.
According to media reports, Edwards and Desroches share a son named Amir, who was born in 2023.
The dispute adds to the off-court legal matters involving Edwards, one of the NBA's most prominent young stars. The American guard has established himself as the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves and one of the league's leading scorers.
The court has yet to issue a reported ruling on Edwards' latest request concerning the management of his child support payments.
